The Salzburgring race track can be reached from the Hotel Stefanihof in around ten minutes. The 4.2 km race track close to the village of Koppl regularly hosts motor sports events such as motorbike, car and vintage car races. On certain days in the year the track is also open to individuals who would like to try their hand at racing in their own car or on their own motorbike.
The Salzburgring track was opened on 21st September 1969 with, among others, the Austrian Formula 1 racing driver Jochen Rindt. In the following years Formula 2 races, the Vintage Car Grand Prix and the motorbike world championships were held here annually.
In recent years the number of large motor sport events held at the Salzburgring has been reduced to 5 per year. However, alternative events such as vehicle presentations, training sessions, club meetings and rock concerts have become popular magnets for the general public.
The hilly landscape surrounding the track provides unique natural stands for audiences and spectators offering an interesting viewing perspective.
